Young MBAs become consultants or go to Wall Street. Our ESC volunteers are a bit beyond that stage of life. The typical ESC consultant has been:
¨ Retired, between 60 and 70 years old.
¨ Blessed with a long and successful experience in business, teaching or other fields.
¨ College educated — one-third have advanced degrees, either MBAs or advanced degrees in science.
¨ Sufficiently prosperous to seek volunteer work, not work for pay.
As shown, they owned businesses or were senior officers in corporations. Since retiring, all have taken a crash course in nonprofit operations. They are highly qualified to help Kansas City nonprofits improve their processes!
In 2009 the ESC volunteer is evolving to include younger professionals; men and women offering an additional skills to enhance ESC's services.
